Player Protection

Tools, support and safeguards to help you stay in control

At Win Your Dream Bike, we want entering our prize draws to be an enjoyable part of being a cycling fan.

For the vast majority of our customers, that’s exactly what it is. But we also recognise that prize draws involve spending money and that everyone should have the tools, information and support they need to stay in control.

That’s why we’ve built player protection into the way WYDB operates.

We are a signatory to the DCMS Voluntary Code of Good Practice for Prize Draw Operators and regularly review our processes and protections as the sector continues to develop.

Tools to help you stay in control

1) Set your own spending limits

You can choose a maximum amount you are comfortable spending with WYDB each calendar month.

Your spend limit applies across all paid prize draws, helping you set a clear budget before entering.

You can set your limit as low as £0.

If you lower your limit, the change takes effect immediately. If you increase or remove an existing limit, there is a 24-hour delay before the change takes effect.

You can manage your spend limit at any time from your WYDB account.

2) Take a break

Sometimes the best option is simply to step away for a while.

You can use the controls within your WYDB account to pause your participation or request a longer account suspension.

During an account suspension you will not be able to enter WYDB prize draws;

For longer-term suspension, accounts can be suspended for a minimum period of six months.

You can also contact us directly if you would like help putting a restriction in place.

3) Close your account

If you no longer want to participate, you can ask us to permanently close your WYDB account.

Simply contact us at hello@winyourdreambike.co.uk and our team will help.

What we do to protect players

We only advertise to adults
Our paid advertising is restricted to audiences aged 18 and over, and our marketing is designed to promote participation responsibly.

You must be 18 or over
All WYDB competitions are strictly for people aged 18 or over and physically located in the UK. Customers must confirm they are 18+ when entering, and we may carry out additional age and identity checks where appropriate.

We monitor for signs of potential harm
We regularly review customer activity, including higher-spending accounts and unusual participation patterns, so we can identify where additional support or intervention may be appropriate.

We may step in where appropriate
If we identify behaviour that could indicate financial harm or distress, we may contact the customer, recommend a break, apply account restrictions or suspend participation.

Clear and fair entry
We clearly explain how our draws work, provide a free postal entry route and ensure qualifying free and paid entries are treated equally.

When it might be time to take a break

If entering competitions is starting to feel different from simply having a bit of fun, it can help to ask:

  • Am I spending more than I intended?
  • Am I trying to win back money I've already spent?
  • Am I hiding how much I'm spending from other people?
  • Is entering competitions affecting my finances, relationships, work or wellbeing?
  • Do I feel uncomfortable, anxious or frustrated when I don't enter?
  • Would taking a break feel difficult?

If any of those questions concern you, we would encourage you to use your spend-limit or suspension controls and consider speaking to someone who can help.
